An intimate evening with Alex Cuba @ Hugh’s Room in Toronto, Alex was in top form sounding clear and confident in his own abilities to bring his music to an admiring crowd. This music has no genre, it is AlexCuba’s music and to see Alex live is to witness his music and his unbound talent oozing out all over his audience until they surrender to true and honest world music. Not world music in the genre sense, but in music for “The World” sense.
And just when you thought the evening could not get any better the surprise guest appearance of equally deserving Canadian singer, songwriter and friend Ron Sexsmith joined Alex on stage for the heart tugging collaboration from the Humo de Tabaco album, “lo mismo que”(if only), stunning the audience once again with music so beautiful it was hard to hold back that tear in the corner of your eye. Even the presence of a full film crew (DVD release TBA) could not take away the undivided attention of the truly blessed patrons of Hugh’s Room last night.
Congratulations once again Alex! We look forward to the DVD release of a magical performance.
